Chapter 16 - The Flourish Expands

By the time Leo turned four, Sarah’s home bakery, "The Flourish," had outgrown their kitchen. What had started as a therapeutic hobby was now a thriving local business with a waitlist for custom cakes and weekend pastry boxes. Their countertops were perpetually covered in flour, and their refrigerator was filled to the brim with buttercream.

One Tuesday evening, Ryan came home holding a manila folder, a huge grin spreading across his face. He set it down on the kitchen island—the very spot that once held so much tension—and slid it toward Sarah.

"What's this?" she asked, wiping a smudge of powdered sugar from her forehead.

"I had my real estate buddy look into that vacant storefront downtown," Ryan said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "The one with the big bay windows you love. The rent is well within the budget we discussed. It’s ready for a commercial kitchen build-out."

Sarah stared at the lease agreement, her hands trembling slightly. "A real shop, Ryan? You really think I can do this?"

"I don't think it, Sarah. I know it," he said, pulling her into a tight hug. "You built this from the ground up while fighting some of the hardest battles of your life. Running a storefront is going to be a breeze for you."

Opening the bakery wasn't just a financial milestone; it was a physical manifestation of her healing. When Sarah signed the lease the following week, she wasn't just becoming a business owner; she was cementing her identity as a woman who had taken her darkest days and spun them into something incredibly sweet.
