Latest news about Joe Biden...

The words hit like a thunderclap: the President is in critical condition. Within minutes, the country’s most carefully guarded emergency plans roared to life. Markets shook, world leaders scrambled, and a stunned nation stared at flickering screens, desperate for answers. In hushed tones, officials invoked the 25th Amend…

The sudden hospitalization of President Biden has plunged the United States into a rare moment of raw vulnerability, yet also exposed the quiet strength of its constitutional design. As doctors fight for his recovery at Walter Reed, the machinery of government has shifted into its contingency posture, with Vice President Harris poised to shoulder the responsibilities of Acting President. Inside the West Wing, routine has been replaced by a fragile, almost sacred calm: staffers speaking in whispers, phones never silent, briefing papers rewritten by the hour. Outside, the country’s political tribes have, if only briefly, lowered their banners, united in the simple human hope that a husband, father, and leader pulls through. Allies abroad are watching not just for medical updates, but for proof that American institutions still hold under strain. For now, an anxious world waits, and the next update could redraw everything.

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been the subject of public discussion regarding his health for several years, particularly because of his age, his demanding political responsibilities, and more recently, his cancer diagnosis. As of the latest publicly available information, the most significant health issue affecting Biden is his diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer.

At 82 years old, Biden is among the oldest individuals ever to serve as President of the United States. Throughout his political career, he has generally remained active and maintained a busy schedule, but age naturally increases the likelihood of developing various medical conditions. As people grow older, the risks of cardiovascular disease, arthritis, hearing loss, vision changes, cancer, and cognitive decline all become more common.

The most important recent development in Biden's health occurred in May 2025 when his office announced that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Doctors discovered the condition after he experienced increasing urinary symptoms and further examinations revealed a prostate abnormality. Additional testing confirmed that the cancer had spread beyond the prostate and into his bones.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men. The prostate is a small gland located below the bladder that plays a role in the male reproductive system. In many men, prostate cancer grows slowly, but some forms are much more aggressive and spread to other parts of the body.

According to the information released by Biden's office, his cancer received a Gleason score of 9. This score is used by doctors to estimate how aggressive prostate cancer appears under a microscope. The scale ranges from lower-risk cancers to highly aggressive cancers. A Gleason score of 9 is considered a very high-grade cancer and indicates that the cancer cells differ substantially from normal prostate cells.

One of the reasons this diagnosis attracted significant attention is that the cancer had already metastasized, meaning it had spread to the bones. Bone metastasis is a serious stage of prostate cancer because it indicates that the disease is no longer confined to its original location. When prostate cancer spreads to bone, patients may eventually experience pain, fractures, reduced mobility, or other complications if the disease progresses.
